Did you watch the Hockey World Cup back in June? What a great spectacle of high level hockey it was!!! Whether you did or didn’t make sure you do not miss the latter stages of the Commonwealth Games Hockey tournament.

The tournament so far as been a joy to watch, an extension of the great hockey been played in the recent World Cup which saw the mighty Aussie’s take the title in the Men’s for the third time running and in the Women’s we saw the Netherlands as World Cup Champions for a record seventh time.

The big powerhouse nations have been at it again in this tournament with two mouth watering semi-final clashes of Australia vs England and New Zealand vs India in the Men’s. In the Women’s we have already seen Australia thrash South Africa 7-1, and England beat New Zealand on a nail biting penalty shoot out. As for the other home nations, in the Men’s both Scotland and Wales came 4th and 5th respectively in the group, Scotland then lost to Malaysia 1-2 to come 8th overall, Wales beat Trinidad & Tobago to come overall 9th. Scotland’s Women’s squad came 3rd in the group whilst Wales came 5th, overall Scotland lost against India 1-2 to come 6th overall, Wales hammered Trinidad & Tobago 4-0 to finish 9th.

Men’s semis are been played today with the Bronze and Gold Medal matches to be played tomorrow. Women’s Bronze and Gold Medal matches are to be played later on today.
