Winchester HC 3

Oxton Hockey Club (HC) travelled to Lee Valley to compete in the England Hockey (EH) Tier 1 National Mixed Finals Weekend. They faced defending mixed champions Repton HC in the semi final. Some quick, skilful hockey from Repton saw Oxton go 2-0 down at half time. Despite bringing the score back to 2-2 in the second half with goals from Ethan Price and Dave Mumford, the team eventually lost 9-2 to this year’s worthy winners. Nevertheless, Oxton HC didn’t come away empty handed. The team beat Winchester HC 6-3 to secure a third place medal. Four goals from Oxton’s Ethan Price secured his place as the competition’s leading goal scorer. Memorable victories over Timperley, City of Manchester, Kendall & Leek in the earlier rounds of the competition made for an enjoyable season of mixed hockey & finishing 3rd out of 152 clubs nationwide is something all players can be proud of!
