Club NewsMEN’S CLUB CAPTAIN NEWS

August 21, 2016

This summer has been the busiest of my time in this role as the club prepare’s to embark on its inaugural National League venture. Thank you to Franno for helping with playing matters by organising the summer league teams.

Turning to next season, I’m delighted that Russell will continue to lead the men’s 1st team with the support of Joe. Pre-season training is well underway with players once more being put through their paces by Chris Carter from Creation PT. With new players joining and others returning the playing side for the men’s 1st and 2nd team has strengthened and will hopefully continue to do so ahead of the league fixtures beginning. As I mentioned at the AGM we are looking to bring in an overseas player that will also benefit the club by supporting the coaching teams of both sections.

Kieran, Steve and Wilks have been busy over the summer working on improving the general running of the men’s section and I look forward to training starting shortly, bar the heckling I receive! It’s always motivating to see training being well attended though and one of the most enjoyable experiences of last season was when myself, Callum and Gordon joined in the training game as the season drew to a close. The game was played in good spirits with a competitive edge and it was great to see the talent in other teams that due to my own playing commitments is difficult to witness at the weekend.

It promises to be an exciting season and with most fixtures being played on Sunday’s I hope that as many of you as possible are able to support the 1st team at their matches, your presence really does make a difference. See you either on the pitch or back in the clubhouse soon, let’s make it another season to remember for the club.
