Club NewsPromotions & Survivals on Penultimate Weekend

March 8, 2016

What a weekend.

With 2 teams winning promotion, and another saving themselves from dreaded relegation, there was much celebration come Saturday evening.

The day got off to a flying start as the unbeaten Men’s 5’s earned another clean sheet in a 2-0 victory at home over Northop Hall, and the Den proved to be a fortress once again this time with the Ladies 2’s who won 9-0 against Triton. The 9-0 thumping proved to be enough to seal promotion for the Ladies 2’s to put the icing on a very impressive season for Coach Cutler, Captain Kerry & the Girls!

Away from home, not all ties went Oxton’s way but due to other results, all of our teams in danger were safe for another week, however the Men’s 4’s secured their own fate with a very impressive 5-4 victory over Mossley Hill!

However the result of the day, and possibly one of the greatest results in Oxton history, came in the third and final match at the Den, which saw another 9-0 victory for an Oxton side, this time for our Men’s 1’s who saw off Timperley in superb style to guarantee promotion to the National League, for the first time in the club’s history!!

A very well done to all of our sides this season, we look forward to more good results in the final round of fixtures this weekend.

Thanks to all those who supported, played, umpired and socialised at our fantastic home Caldy Sports Club this weekend, and this season. We hope to see you all this Saturday for our Annual Hotpot Awards!

Have a great week.
